Is tramadol the same as Vicodin? My Vicodin prescription was for 5/500 and the Tramadol is 50 mg??? Thanks!
But do they have the same effect, in other words I do not get sleepy or "high" on vicodin...such as I have flexoril and I have to cut them into 4ths because they just make me sleepy....and do you know about the difference in the dosage? Thank you!
Hi millerra,
Both Vicodin (hydrocodone and APAP) and tramadol are pain pills.
We have plenty of posts regarding Vicodin and/or tramadol. But for objective information it's best that you consult a resource like DrugDigest.org:
Vicodin (hydrocodone/acetaminophen)
Looks like its a big difference...sure don't want to be hallucinating! :)
what I need to know is it says its the same drug and I want to know if that is so...;..Rita Miller
I'm not sure if I understand you question but tramadol and vicodin are not the same drug.
Hydrocodone goes by the names of vicodin, lortab, norco, vicoprofen
Tramadol goes by the names of ultram, ultracet.
They both work in similiar ways by stimulating the same receptors but it in different ways. Tramadol is kind of an oddball as far as opioid analgesics go since it's also an SSRI and it's not even considered a controlled substance.

The only thing Vic and Tramadol have in common is that they are both pain relievers.
