Indiana prescription rulesI remember a recent post where we were talking about the laws in different states as to how scripts are written. Today I just got a new script from my doc, and it is different than the experience i have had. I live in Indiana, and recently I said that I had held on to a script for SEVERAL months- i can't remember how long, but it could have been up to a year if i remember correctly - either way, I just got one today for hydrocodone, which of course is only for one month supply, and it says today's date, and is says void after 11/21/2007, six months from now. I was surprised to read this since I don't remember having any time limits on any other prescription. Also, if any cares, this is also a computer generated script, the only hand-writing on it is the doc's signature. anyone know why it is now changed and void w/in six months? I am looking for an answer
I am looking for an answer to the 6 month void rule at The Indiana State Board of Pharmacy. I'm sure it's in there somewhere, I just can't find it right now. You might give it a glance. Gtrplayer You know, I was asking what
You know, I was asking what schedule it is b/c I saw on the bottom of the script it says CIII, and another script says something else down there ( yes the other one is controlled as well). I just wanted to make sure that it signified the class drug I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience. I too, am in Indiana, and
I too, am in Indiana, and have the exact same type of prescriptions. Not from the same doctor, mine do not have the schedule # on them. Also, I noticed that your Norco image appeared to be formatted in "Center Alignment". Mine are normally just regular indented, left aligned. Thanks for the uploaded images! Gtrplayer idk
i have received scripts from three states and in all three (WV, PA, and OH) I have been allowed to fill for one year, even a couple times on CIII a year or so ago and any non-CII script here is usually allowed to be filled for one year unless the rules have changed, because alot of them are continuing to be changed. i know wv is one year and on CII i think its thirty days here, although i was always right to the pharm with one of those..lol. I also called around
I also called around different pharms in the area for pricing (if anyone wants to know $ just ask). all the pharms I talked to said they had no problem with partial filling, and me coming back at a later time when. basically its because it costs so much I can only pay for half at a time. I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience. yea i've seen this done b4
yea i've seen this done b4 it's pretty regular alot of ppl do it most pharmacies don't have a problem with it either that is to the half filling i'm talking about i've dont it myself and at one time had to just get 4 pill's out of a script of 30 it wasn't a problem but me and the pharmacie are pretty tight i mean i'm a top customer idk about the law's there but here it's clearly on the script the fill date and all that i can bust one out if need be i got an old endocet 10/650 and a few other's i'm sure, it's just usually after there all gone i rip the writeing off and keep the bottle's i've got ton's of em lol idk when u all find out what's up on this post it i wanna know too lol <<noisey oh and i live in nc if anyone wanted to know i looked at the script's only one i've got on me with a refill is a marinol script and it only give's u 30 day's to fill after original filling is gone atleast that's what it say's i mean i'm pretty usual though when i run out i get more so idk i nvr tested the writeing's the date's what ever u call it No offense Bubba3030, but
No offense Bubba3030, but could you please use periods seperating sentences in your post? I don't mean to be rude but it is very hard to understand, please? I remember talking to Dr. Lois on here, and she said another pharm she had been to did not allow partial filling. she suggested at a pharm she went to that you could only get your script meds then, and anything left over was basically void. the staff at the pharm I go to know me very well, in fact even w/ the 1000's of people they get, i can walk up and they already know my name to look it up. my six-year-old has a crush on one of the girls that works there-she knows us real well, even his name, and asks where we've been. it's probably b/c I've had so many problems that I am there quite often to get different meds filled. right now I have no insurance and they all remember-each time I go they always ask first- have you got insurance yet? I found out through research that I can get my meds ALOT cheaper at another pharm that is 8am-9pm, instead of my pharm that's 24hrs. I am going to ask my doc to switch there, but I hate leaving the place I know so well- but, it's way cheaper! I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. None taken some ppl dont' like it. From now on i'll try my best to keep it in check i'm just a lil lazy. Back to the topic at hand some pharmacies are snotty other's are very nice and careing ppl that understand, like u were saying that u loved ure pharm and didn't wanna change it. I completely understand that but i would do what ure doing it's about the prices not the ppl saveing money is alway's worth it, i'm sure u know what i mean i know how no insurance and complication's is it suck's put bluntly so i'm sorry what ure going through. that's cute...you remind me
that's cute...you remind me of my man's best friend LOL I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience. CIII Have to be filled or
CIII Have to be filled or refilled within 6 months of the original Rx date and cannot have more than 5 refills. CII Have to be filled within 7 days of the original Rx date and cannot have any refills. CII can be called in, in the case of an emergency, but within 72 hours the pharmacy must receive a hand writtin Rx. Also triplicate forms are not required, atleast not for percs. This is the case in Michigan, not positive for other places. just to update- i had to go
just to update- i had to go to my regular pharm to get the #330 filled, I had to pay a total of $260!!! My doc said next month i can go to a new pharm after filling a new contract I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience. State RX rules
In the state of Washington, you have different time periods before a prescription is void. Schedule II and III are six months (no refills on CII and five allowed on CIII) and CIV and CV are a year. I had a prescription three or four years ago for Oxycontin where the doctor had changed my meds before I had filled it. I don't remember the entire situation, but I ended up filling it about four months after the date it was written. Washington doesn't require triplicate scripts, but I think there are still some states that do, especially on CII scripts. CA was one of the states that did away with them. I'm not sure how many others have done the same. Director
