Oxycontin Strengths ?Are these "new strengths" something that hasnt came out yet, or have they been released and already discontinued? Im not really an Oxy buff, so I dont really know. I also thought some other people might find it interesting, unless its something thats not "new". http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/label/2006/020553s056lbl.pdf

INTERESTING
Hi there Solo! That is interesting on the 15,30 &60mg's. I myself do take OC's and my doc never gave me those as I was titrating up to my current level. When I get a little more time I will snoop around and see what I can come up with and get back with you. But as far as I know its only 10-20-40-80, thats it, the 160's were discontinued here in the US because of abuse. I will check later on, Chow! --MUDEBONE-- Not so sure
Hi Solo, I went on Purdues website and they do not show the 15,30,or 60's. Therefore the link that you gave, even though it is a governmental agency, it may not be correct. I never saw nor heard of those particular dosages other than when a Dr. prescribes it that way then the pharmacist Rx's say a 40mg + a 20mg to give you the 60mg strength ordered by your dr. I am interested though if anyone else has some info...--MUDEBONE-- I guess I should have just
I guess I should have just did more research. I found on the FDA CDER website where it shows the strengths in question have been discontinued. http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/index.cfm?fuseaction=Search.DrugDetails Anyone care to guess
Anyone care to guess why the 30mg and 60mg tablets were discontinued? I really have no clue, aside from the pessimistic view that it was done to force doctors to write two prescriptions for one dose (20mg + 10mg) for someone who requires 30mgs of analgesia. It doesn't make sense, to me, to have a jump from 40mgs to 80mgs, when a patient's needs may fall in the middle of those two doses. I'm sure someone knows the answer, I just can't find it. Gtrplayer I think they might have
I think they might have submitted and been appproved for them, so they will have the "rights" to those strengths. If you look at the date that package insert was submited to the FDA it was in 2006 sometime. So they might have wanted to get those strengths patented in case another company tried bringing them out. Incase they didnt win there patent lawsuits. discontinued
The 160mg OC's were discontinued due to their strenght and related overdoses, commonly called blue coffins because of the shape. *none of this should be construed as medical advice. gtrplayer...This is the website I have used for some time now and it seems to be very realiable. Check it out. Director
I think that This website
I think that This website from the DEA is a little more reliable. Note the bold print in the second paragraph. It lists the strengths currently available. Also, per This post on Pharmer.org, 160mg Oxycontin was discontinued in 2001. Gtrplayer I still think it's 160 mg!
Hi GTrplayer...I did some looking and I found this on the DEA site you posted. Take a look. You have to scroll down quite aways to get to the Oxy part. http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/pubs/abuse/4-narc.htm Director
One more time, 160 mg Oxycontin
I just logged onto the website of Purdue Pharma and they clearly state that they make Oxy in 10, 20 ,40, 80, and 160 mg. I am giving everyone the website to see for yourself. http://www.pharma.com/html/our_products/our_products.htm Director Just because there is a
Just because there is a picture of the product doesnt mean its in production. Here is the link again to the FDA website where it shows what strengths are available. If the link doesnt take you directly there, just enter Oxycontin into the search bar it gives you. http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/index.cfm?fuseaction=Search.DrugDetails Director,I posted the chart
Director, I posted the chart on here awhile back, after it got removed from the spam filter, that shows that 160mg Oxycontin is clearly not in production anymore. And as Solo5010 said, just because there is a picture of something doesn't mean that it exists. -not a new post, just took a picture of Santa Clause and T8 down-
director- go to your link to
director- go to your link to the pharm website, then look at the "material safety data sheet" for oxycontin. they clearly do not have anything listed there for 160mg b/c they do not manufacture it anymore. that info was updated May '07. I posted this on another thread concerning 160 Oxys, but I wanted to include the same information here. This morning I called Purdue's customer service line and specifically asked if they were marketing the Oxycontin, 160 mg. The answer I got from them was no. They have been off the market for over five years. I just wanted everyone to know I was wrong in stating the 160's have been put back on the market by Purdue.
