I think I am waiting too long before taking something for breakthrough and then by the time it starts working I'm behind the eight ball as they would say.How do you all judge it?
Well going by the name..... A breakthru med is used to help with pain that breaks through the pain killing threshold of another medicine-usually an extended release med. So unless you know when the pain is going to come or what activities cause more pain, then I would say you probably are taking it correctly. (as soon as the pain is felt) However, if you do know when the pain is going to come on then taking it slightly before hand is probably okay. This is a tough question to answer as their are different answers for different folks. I would strongly advise asking your PM or PC doctor this question.
Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!
Take you're breathrough meds as soon as you feel you need them. Pain medications work best when pain is minimal.
