Suboxone HeadacheHas anyone on Suboxone experienced a constant mild headache while on it? I started treatment of 8mg 1 - 2 times a day last week and ever sinc have had a headache. It helped my withdraws and cravings but still feel uncomforable due to this headache. I was told by my doc that sometimes about 1% of the naloxone gets absorbed into the system and some people get a headache. For tese people he has to switch them to Subutex which has no Naloxone. I go back to my doc tomorrow for a check up and I will tell him my problem but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this headache and if Subutex solved it? Suboxone Headache
Hello Send4jimmy, when I first started to take suboxone for the first week I was getting severe headaches that lasted days and my dr thought it was the naloxone but he WOULDNT under any circumstances change me to subtex, the head aches wend away for me, my brother still gets headaches from suboxone and he has been on it for 4 years now, he was one of the first patients, his dr is one of the drs that invented the program he is in the office seeing patients 2 days a week and in the lab, doing research 3 days a week, i have heard but dont know how credable the info is that they are coming out with a suboxone implant that releases buprenorphine for 2 months at a time then it has to be changed, sounds interesting to me. I was on siboxone for 2 months and my dr had me taper off because he doent do long term, if i wanted long term he would have sent me to a different doctor. I was off it for a few weeks and decided to go back on it. I am at 8mg once a day in the morning. I have tried 4mg in the am and 4mg in the pm. it just doesnt work for me. I actually prefer 4mg in the am, but my dr wants me to settle on 8mg for a few weeks then go to 4mg, he seems to thing 4mg is too low of a dose for cravings. If you have any questions feel free to personal message me. I have a good amount of expirience with suboxone. Have you noticed that coffee intensifies the dose, i told my dr and he told me not to drink coffee for atleast a hour after the dose. I took his orders and dont drink coffee at all anymore. Also how is your sleep pattern, I have noticed that i sleep very very well. He also prescribed me 5mg ambien for the nights that I cannot fall asleep, I try so hard not to take it. I see my dr every 2 weeks for scripts and urine tests, he is extremly strict on the urine tests and only does 2 week scripts never month scripts for anyone. well thats my 2 cents Yeah...
Yeah... I have a slight headache all day and night. My sleep pattern is ok. I'm on 8mg once a day. I take it in the am. As far as cravings or withdraw symptoms I'm fine. He reccomended 16mg a day for the 1st month but 8 keeps me good. I want to only take what i need so I can taper off faster and easier. My doc has no prob putting me on subutex. It's actually $1.50 a pill more at walmart. I'll pay that to get rid of this headache. I highly doubt that its
I highly doubt that its the Naloxone in the medication that is the cause of the headaches. Even if it was possible for 1% of the drug to become active when taken orally (sublingulally) it would only be 0.02mg. Either way according to the Prescribing Information headaches where observed in 36% of the people taking 16mg Suboxone a day and 29% of the people taking Subutex which was actually only a 9 person difference. Headaches where also observed by 22% of the people taking the placebo, go figure. I guess if your doctor is willing to give you Subutex and he/you think it will work better you should probably switch. suboxone headaches
Yeah the headaches are part of the deal for some of us. I have tried both suboxone and subutex and I get severe headaches (almost like migraines) from both medications all the time. I guess I'm just sensitive to the buprenorphine. I have read about a transdermal version of buprenorphine called norspan, but I'm not sure if it is available in the U.S. Maybe that will work better. Best of luck with treatment! Suboxone must have the same
Suboxone must have the same side effects as methadone. Same thing happened to me when I was on Methadone.
