Need help to ID small round white pills marked notril-2 found in my son's room

I found this pill in my sons room. He said the pill was to help him "focus". I tried to look it up but could not find a match. Here are the details:

  • round, white, flat, scored on one side
  • no marking on the other side
  • size of pill is between 9 - 10mm
  • Came in a tin foil package with "Sadol 173 275", and "INDIA" printed
  • other printing on the package include "Disperable tables", "notril-2", "2mg"
  • looks like some foreign writting down the right side.

makes sense

that would make sense since "notril-2" was print on the package, but it was ripped.   I'm guessing the Clonotril and Clonazepam are the same type of drug.  This group of drugs is taken for epilespy or panic disorder.  Any idea what the illegal street use is or why my kid and his friends would be taking it.

Well I am not sure about Clonotril but I know clonazepam is a benzodiazepine which is largely abused as it is a sedative. Just look up benzodiazepine abuse and you will have tons of info.

Clonotril is a name brand

Clonotril is a name brand for the generic medication Clonazepam. I guess I could have been a little clearer. I was still hoping someone could verify this though.

I agree that more clarification is needed but if Clonotril is the foreign name brand then that is probably what the pill is. I base my thoughts on the 2mg strength and the fact that she suspects abuse of the pill. So although I am pretty sure it is 2mg clonazepam I will wait for someone with more experience of foreign pills.

I think your right, as we gave a drug test which showed up positive for benzodiazepine.  Also it confirms the recent change in his behavior.  Thank you.

This is DEFINITELY Clonotril brand clonazepam, made by Torrent, but only the 0.5mg strength. It is a 1,4 benzo with a medium half-life and produces less sedation than other benzos whilst being an extremely effective anxiolytic and anti-seizure drug. I am certain that if your son is finding it hard to 'focus' due to an anxiety disorder it is a good choice of medicine and should not do him any harm, especially at such low strength, but it will help him to concentrate on things like school work without the unwanted effects of, say, diazepam.

"NEVER ingest anything unless you are 100% sure what it is."
