if one has taken methadone for a couple of days, how long and what dangers before using subonex

I am assuming you mean Suboxone?

As far as how long, the general consensus is that you go at least 3 days without a long acting pain med, and 1 day without a short acting pain med.  Methadone, due to it's long half life, is considered a long acting pain med.  

Some sites will say to wait until withdrawal is moderate to severe before taking your first dose of Suboxone.  If you take your first dose of Suboxone too close to your last dose of Methadone, you may be thrown into a precipitated withdrawal (basically, the Suboxone will cause you to go into withdrawal).

If I were you, I would check with a doctor as soon as possible and find out the specifics of when you are considered "safe" to take Suboxone.

What does the Suboxone make

What does the Suboxone make you feel like?

I was looking into it and even went to a physician but they wanted me to commit to a "program" that would eat up four days of my week. Being a working father/husband I just don't have the time for that kind of thing.

For me, Suboxone has worked

For me, Suboxone has worked better than any pain medicine I have ever taken, and has had very few side effects.  The hardest thing to deal with was the tired feeling that you get when you first start on Suboxone.  I would make sure that I drank some coffee, even if it was at night, prior to taking my medicine.  

What I have found is that you do not have to take nearly as much Suboxone as you normally would other pain medicines.  I can make one tablet last me an entire day, and the pain is well controlled when I take Motrin or Tylenol (sparingly) when needed.

I'm not going to try to preach, or make you think that Suboxone is for you, but it might be something worth checking out.  Had my pain management center not been so adamant about at least trying Suboxone for pain, I would have never tried it.  But now, I am glad that I did.

effects

I have found that suboxone has very few side effects, except the precipitated withdrawal it can cause.  It just makes you feel better really.  Induction is a little rough the first few days but after that It is pretty good medicine.  If you are thinking it is like methadone it is completely different, if you have any specific questions PM me.

Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!

If you have an addiction

If you have an addiction four days a week is a small price to pay to improve your chance of getting off nacotics, especially if you want to continue to be a working father and husband.  It really ticks me off when people say I am too busy to come in for appointments, I have blah, blah, blah responsibilities.  Guess what, we all have those types of responsibilities, yours are nothing special.
