Lunesta to Ambien

Posted in

I am taking three medications from which my psychiatrist prescribes, Lunesta, Klonopin, and Lexapro.  Lunesta and Lexapro are unavailable in generic so until I reach my deductable i pay about 280 dollars for these three only per month not including my oxycontin which is about 140.  I got him to switch the lexapro to a similar generic product although I am not sure what the name of it is. I think it starts with a C for depression/anxiety.  Lunesta is 120 dollars for 30 3mg pills.  That is so much money.  The the similar dosage of ambien generic it is 15 dollars for me or less.  For some reason my psychiatrist will not prescribe me ambien.  The pharmacist was out of lunesta 3mg so he said he would call my doctor today and try to persuade him into prescriping me generic ambien which would save me 100 dollars a month.  Why would my doctor not what to help me out and save me 100 dollars per month.  I have tried ambien before because my mom takes it like once a week and it worked great.  However i like lunesta a lot as well it just costs 10 times more right now.

Going to see a Doctor to Start Suboxone question

Posted in

Hello,

The short of this is that I had chronic pain in my right hip about 2 years ago, nobody could figure out what the problem was. After 4 months of this I needed more pain killers to be able to work. My doctor wouldn't give me more, so I found a way to get more.  I realized a had a problem once my hip started to get better and I started to cut back. I didn't know what was happening at the time but it was withdrawls I found out by reading online. I used just enough to cope with the pain. I needed more and more just to stay out of withdrawls. I tried to go cold turkey about 1.5 months ago, and I almost died. I was able to get several hundred 60mg extended release morphine sulphate pills. I need 6 of these a day to stay out of withdawl. I go see a doctor in 2 days about starting suboxone treatment, and I'm really scared. I don't care about getting high or the opiate buzz, I just don't want to be in withdrawl. I'm afraid that the doctor won't evaluate me right and I'll be in withdrawl again. If this happens will the doctors be available for emergencys?

(edited)

I'm sorry to be such a baby about this, but I'm really scared and have never experienced anything so horrible in my life as the withdrawls. I think I even damaged my brain on my cold turkey attempt, I hear midi music in my ears so loud that I almost can't hear people talk.

Any information you have about this I would appreciate so much.

LIMBREL Anybody???

Posted in

Hi! I was recently prescribed a newish "food/drug" called LIMBREL by my pain doc.  Although it is a "Food/drug" it is available by Rx only.  The indication is for osteoarthritis.  The effectiveness profile is similar to Naproxen 1000mg per day.  This is a mystery as to why is is so unknown.  Anyway, as there are VERY few side effects listed we thought we would give it a spin.  I have had very bad luck with NSAIDS (Hypertension and GI upset).  Limbrel is not supposed to cause any of these...too good to be true???

Well a few days after I started taking it I developed a "macular rash" over my arms and thighs.  Also a little edema, and knee pain.  Anybody out there with experieince with Limbrel??

My hubby told me to get off it ASAP and start Benadyl (he is a doc).  He said Allergic Reaction.  It has been 3 days and I still have a bit of the rash and I'm still a little puffy and my hands and knees ache.  Anybody want to weigh in?

I also take Oxycodone for my pain (which is due to AS - a type of inflammatory arthritis of an autoimmune nature) but we all know I won't be getting my Oxycodone anymore....right?

New percs, and something I'm not sure is new...

Posted in

My last visit to pain management early november, I was presicribed very small round, very compact/dense, yellow Oxycodone 15mg tablets. Also I recieved from a street source (which I always look up what I get from them) a new Percocet that still contains the same respective amount or Oxycodone but cut with 200 mg. of Ibuprofen instead of APAP. Very nice they decided to do that...four thousand people a year die from accute liver failure due to Acetimenaphen overdose. A 7 gram dose of APAP will have you dead within a week. Jason

Tapentadol Hydrochloride - FDA Approval for Relief of Moderate to Severe Acute Pain

Posted in

The "Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced approval of tapentadol hydrochloride (Johnson & Johnson), an immediate-release oral tablet for the relief of moderate to severe acute pain." Tapentadol hydrochloride, "for which a trade name has not yet been established, is a centrally acting analgesic that will be available in doses of 50, 75, and 100 mg." The FDA's "approval was based on data from clinical studies involving more than 2,100 patients." Researchers found that the drug "showed significant relief compared with placebo for patients undergoing bunionectomy, a common foot surgery; in pain from end-stage joint disease; and with low back pain or osteoarthritis of the hip or knee."

It appears to have activity at the mu-opiate receptors as well as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.

This medications potency appears to fall somewhere between tramadol and morphine.

As far as I know at the time of writing this post, the DEA has not scheduled it yet.

Interesting information should surface in the coming months to see how safe/effective it is on a very large population.
